Ordered the final book and it arrived today. In an unprecedented effort of self control, I managed a single sketchbook painting before giving in and reading for the next 4 hours.

IT WAS SO GOOD. GUYS. THIS SERIES. IT'S THE BEST. IT WILL DESTROY YOU.

I should probably try and do some actual work now.

I love twisty thrillers and I love Jim Caviezel and I love slashy duos. This film. GUYS.

The premise is awesome... )

Source Code
was rather silly, but Jake Gyllenhaal is always watchable, and he had good chemistry with Vera Farmiga. Not so great with Michelle Monaghan (the love interest) which was a little disappointing. The plot was predictable but there was enough action, and it was fast-paced enough to sustain interest. In all, a solid Silly Bang Bang flick.

I also watched Conan and Abduction. Which were both awful, and I only managed to watch through judicious use of the fast forward button and because I've been on a bid to ignore my life and distract myself with shit tv for the past fortnight or so.

Well done, we have brown people who aren't Will Smith as leads, can we now have them starring in not-shit movies?

Taylor Lautner cannot act to save his life, but he does have very attractive canines.(What? I get weirdly specific sometimes, so sue me. I see why they cast him as a werewolf though).

Conan was so unbelievably sexist and hideous. Though now I really want genderswap fix it fic. Internet, make that happen.

I don't know by humansrsuperior

OH MY GOD. This is utterly wonderful. The song choice is PERFECT, the use of speaky face is INSPIRED and as a summary of season two it works SO WELL. Seriously, this is the BEST THING EVER. It's all so on the beat and slick and funny yet creepy at the same time and OHMYGOD. I'M DYING.

Anyone who has ever seen even the tiniest bit of Sherlock has to watch this RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

The Good Wife 3x13. Entirely superficial not! recap:-- Kalinda, you looked REALLY HOT this episode. I think was the colour of her top, plus some stellar make up? Not sure what exactly, but her skin had all these different tones. She's gorgeous. Not that they couldn't cut back further on the black and increase the use of colour. (Navy? Dark brown? THERE ARE OPTIONS, OKAY.)

Once Upon A Time 1x09. Entirely fed-up not!recap:-- Fuck it. Emma you lose at life. Henry you are an ungrateful shit. Regina, I love you. Rumplestiltskin, I love you as well. Snow and Charming, you're all right but you don't get enough screen time. Everyone else, you are MADE OF BORING. (Red, you are still super!hot). Even mystery man-on-motorbike isn't enough to keep me interested. I had hopes, possibly not very high, but they were middling. Show, you ruined them. Now how am I going to get my Carlyle kick? Bring back SGU, you losers.

Sherlock 2x03/entire season 2. Entirely obsessed not!recap:-- I HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE YEAR? (Or possibly just under a year) FFFFFUUUUUU. John, you were the wonderfullest wonderful ever to wonderful. Sherlock, you were manic this entire season, but it did make sense in context. Moriarty, you were the best villain in the entire world ever. He gave me shivers, actual physical shivers. I have to watch everything with Andrew Scott in now. EVERYTHING. HIS FACE. MY GOD. Molly and Lestrade, you were great, wish they'd had more screen time, but we got some nice round the edges character development, especially ep 1 and 3. Shame there wasn't more Sally and shame Anthea didn't seem to exist (though we did get more Mycroft, which I certainly approve of.) It was deffo darker this season, which makes me wonder where they're going to go in 3. Even more darker-er?

I wasn't lying when I made those last straw posts. I've finally had enough. That's not to say I'm dropping my white men fandoms. I'm not. I love them, I'm not going to deny that. But I've reached the point where I just can't stand to continue as I have been, complaining and still doing nothing.

So here is my first step on the path to hypocrisy-free media consumption and critique. For every white men centric source I consume (tv/film/vid I watch, book/fanfic I read etc) I'm going to consume two things about women or POC, a corresponding source if I can, but if not, fic for film or book for vid or any permutation is fine, as long as it's two for every one.

It's not exactly arduous! More media to enjoy!

The same rule however, is going for fanworks. I've got my Wolf!Stiles fic to post soon, and after that I'll create two female/POC centric fics/fan works. (Oh, and a twofer only counts as one.) They don't have to be equivalent size, it's more about opening my mind to the possibilities, it's not like I don't have fics about women and POC rattling around in my skull, but instead of rattling and back burnering, I'm pushing them to the front.

Plus I can work on original fic as well, (in fact that should probably take priority, um). So my work won't always appear up here, but when it's fandom related it definitely will.

They open with a quick selective rehash of the swimming pool scene:

It's weird seeing the actual actors all together again. Sherlock's face seems different after so long imagining him in my head whilst reading fanfic. My opinion of Jim has changed since seeing him the first time, (I've grown to hate him more, I was mostly bowled over by awesome and weirdness at first). John... John is much the same actually, huh.

They manage to amp back all the tension with the slow lead in, but then comes the drop of Sherlock's eyes to the bomb jacket and I just can't see how they're going to deliver the pay-off. Anything will be anti-climatic after so long a wait.

...

That was, 'dot dot dot,' for all you listening at home. )

Did get SOME writing done whilst away. Not as much as planned though. Have a quote from D with the C. (This is how I make [rewrite] notes to myself...)

And he flipped them back over, the wound in his thigh giving a slight twinge at the sudden exertion after so many days spent riding, and so many nights spent... riding. [HAHAHA. NO.]

That fic, srsly, cracks me the fuck. up.

Collected glass from the beach, white mostly, some pale blue, some green, one dark blue, woot! Also got a bunch of stones with holes in, just in case I ever have to see through a fairy glamour. YOU NEVER KNOW.

The old Adam West batman was on while we were there. SAME BAT-TIME, SAME BAT-CHANNEL. I kinda want to do a rewrite of Batman Begins/Dark Knight in the old style way. BUT THERE IS NO ROBIN. HOLY TRAGEDY BATMAN!

Managed to catch up on TGW, but utterly failed to watch any SGU. I felt too bad watching tv instead of writing. I know, I fail at this holiday lark.

A bird flew in through my window today. It made a small circle of my room, it's wings beating loudly, then slipped out again.

It was so unexpected, I felt my heart clench in my chest.

I am a very active writer, as in I will read parts out loud, act parts out, wave my hands about and squint at the air. I also scream at the screen, bounce up and down when I think of something, scowl at characters, occasionally flap my hand about like I'm trying to fly, and stick my tongue out at my laptop.

I leap about like I'm on drugs, basically. Is this normal? Do other people do this?
nemonclature: Daria looking unamused (aaaaaaah)
RIGHT, so you know why everyone should watch this show? I mean the really simple insta-rec reason? There is no crowning moment of awesome, there are no super awesome 'omg this one!' characters...

Because THEY ARE ALL THAT AWESOME.* Seriously I CANNOT CHOOSE. I go to recap and I'M O-Ding ON AWESOME. I CAN'T KEEP IT IN. I GOTTA LET IT OUT.

Like, the plot and the characters and the pacing and the everything is wonderful, yes. But... you know those things, those things that fill you with squee and you want to grab random people off the street and shake them until they're all dizzy and deaf from your shouting and then maybe they will understand half of how you're feeling?

THIS SHOW MAKES ME LIKE THAT. OH DEAR GOD.

* - ok fine, except Jeremy. God Jeremy, get a life.

Wooh SGU! Except I haven't actually seen the finale, and still have half a season to catch up on (SO DON'T SPOIL ME OMG). But still, SOLIDARITY! FANDOM LOVE! NEVAR FORGET etc. etc.

I know I've been all quiet on the SGU front for months now, but that's irrelevant. THE LOVE IS STILL STRONG IN ME. TRUFAX.

SGU! First time being in a fandom. First time de-lurking. First time modding a comm. First time seriously writing fic. First time seriously creating fanwork in general!

The community! The squee! The discussions! The theories! The dissecting of Y/R minutia. (OH BOYS. YOU WERE EPIC.) The ship! The planets! The Ancient tech! The aliens! The military! The civilians! The stupid characters! The awesome characters! The loser characters! The ones I loved! The ones I hated! The ones I ended up changing my mind about! THE EVERYTHING!

SGU, you were the best. And SGU fandom, you are all wonderful, amazing people and I'm so glad to have had a chance to flail and squee with you guys. No matter how shortlived the show. FANDOM WILL LIVE ON.

Also, I seem to have lost the Vancouver press day pic where Carlyle and Ferreira were leaning against each other (where F was wearing that brown cardigan?) So have this instead! And this time Carlyle has made the questionable sartorial choice! Woot!
