Can I just say how RIDICULOUSLY attractive I'm finding Doc Holliday on Wynonna Earp.

Like. Really. Really. Ridiculously. Good looking.

Despite the mustache. (Because of the mustache?)

Also. The fact that he played the Druid guy in Lost Girl is killing me. IDK why, I find it utterly hilarious. Druid guy was also stupidly hot, while also being totally ridiculous and wearing terrible clothes. Also morally ambigous. No mustache though.

Is it a real mustache though? This is the question. Cos it's grey whereas his hair isn't. Which makes me think fake. Also it takes time to grow something that big. And he clearly didn't sport one before. But then he has facial hair in interviews so maybe he'd just shaven it off after the show? IDK.

I have spent too much time pondering the question of this man's facial hair.

He's hot. It makes him hotter! It makes him look kinda rat-like?

He's really sexy. He's kinda wiry and weaselly looking? IDK

I mean, there's this:

But I prefer this:

Did I mention he has a hat?

I have lost perspective. I would very much like HBO to buy this series and then fill every episode with really explicit sex scenes in which Wynonna and Doc fuck on every surface in the house and then christen the pink car, and also other highly specific fantasies I may or may not have had regarding these two. And fucking.

Seriously I have not had such a pornographic reaction to a pairing in... Ever?

In other news, this series has, like diversity and stuff.

Also, this breakdown of how it's basically Buffy, rings fairly true. But I definitely get a Faith vibe off Wynonna more than a Buffy.

Hello new people!

I'm awful at intros, so... there's a bit on my profile, anything else, just ask!

Navigation:
[personal profile] nemonclature - my new home, primarily fandom with the rare RL post under lock.
[livejournal.com profile] nemo_r - my old home, still checked for flist purposes, and dw posts are mirrored there.
[community profile] nemo_recs - the place where nemo, recs. Surprise! (Also mirrored at [livejournal.com profile] nemo_recs).
[tumblr.com profile] nemo-r - for fan related pretty, feminist leanings, ballet and space.
[archiveofourown.org profile] nemo_r - for the fic I have not been writing lately D:

I miss [community profile] metafandom . I almost want to set up a new one, only the time that would require, I do not have. There is [community profile] month_of_meta but it's only sporadically updated.

Are there any other meta comms still living?

Transient fandoms.

I feel like, back in the day it was all monofandoms/long term fandoms: X files or Xena or Buffy or Due South etc. But now, most fans I know are multi-fannish, and, in terms of my approach, I definitely feel the NEW SERIES! lift and the NEW FILM COMING OUT! lift. It's all YAY Star Trek, and then that slumps a bit then YAY XMFC then that slumps then YAY Avengers then that slumps and then OH YEAH STAR TREK AGAIN. I don't ditch any of my old fandoms. My HP reading is testament to that, but I do add regularly.

Is it symptomatic of modern media? All - more more more, gimme more, the next best thing, 15 minutes of fame etc? I can't imagine we'll ever reach saturation point though, I imagine I'll keep on adding and adding fandoms to my list. And the old ones, they slow down. Actually maybe they do stop, it's just none of them are old enough yet I mean, who writes in Highlander or X-Files any more?

Slooooowly working my way through the Wheel of Time re-read on TOR...

Female/Male characters and slightly more general thoughts on brainwashing/mind control kink )

TVD 4x09 - not a happy review )

OMG Did China Mieville swallow a fucking dictionary as a child? I mean, I am loving it, but still.  (The City and The City, full review to come once I'm finished.)

I go round thinking Teen Wolf is this nice but silly wolf show and then it cracks out something utterly, vicious and gruesome and I'm SCARRED I TELL YOU. SCARRED.

Season 2 Spoilers )

I love shippy, romantic stories with creepy stalkers, dubious consent, fucked up powerplays, and Stockholm syndrome-y screwedupness. I really do. I know they're wrong and IRL not at all sexy or good or in any way approximating positive, but in fic or films or tv? LOVE 'EM.

But I can't get into the whole Paranormal Romance, Alpha male, Edward Cullen style creeper craze. I just can't.

I think I've worked out why.

... (Teen Wolf S2 spoilers under the cut) )

I had been writing while on the metro in to work. Epic teen wolf boyangst, almost missed my stop a few times. But my bicing card has come through now, and unfortunately writing and cycling don't go well together. (Unless you mean writing + cycling = DEAD.)

So. I might still take the metro for the longer journeys, which means two days out of four will be 'teen wolf writing' journeys and the other two... 'try not to get run over while cycling' journeys.

Funteims.

I'm not sure whether I should finish the AU at the end of ep 1 or continue. If I let it, I can see it's going to take over my every waking moment and I'd like to have enough drive to write other things in the fandom. I've been trawling [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic for prompts which is always fun.

kink, POC, and gender thoughts (still about TW) )
nemonclature: Daria looking unamused (sexy)
I've never really had much of a reaction to the overtly sexual kinks, some I prefer, some I don't but I can take 'em or leave 'em. It's the DYNAMICS of a pairing that really gets me. Shippy stuff, obvs. And IDK if I prefer slash, or if I just gravitiate towards it 'cos it's THERE.

powerless!kink, which I've tried to define before, but my latest definition is something like this:

An in control, morally ambiguous character manipulates or controls an obvious good guy/hero character. The good character suspects the in control character's motivations (and is, ideally, afraid of the in control character, at least at first.)

a) The reader, however, is, or eventually comes to be aware that the morally ambiguous character is also good, though possibly held to a less, 'shining' standard of good.

or

b) The reader is, or eventually comes to be aware that the morally ambiguous character cares for the good guy, though for a given value of 'care'.

I mention b) for the same reason I did last time - Leonidas Lion's Suite!verse HITS MY KINK SO HARD, and all Evil!Sam wants to do is BREAK DEAN INTO A TINY BROKEN THING so he can remake him exactly as he wants (UNF).

Anyway, this feeds into the dubcon!kink, which is I guess more straightforward. Character says no, his/her body says yes. Intoxicated/drugged!kink can fit into this, because the conscious "no" is taken away and all that's left are the secret desires.

Or in general, capacity for consent/control is taken away and responsibility placed in the other character's hands. TRANSFERENCE OF POWER. Usually involuntary, though intoxication blurs the line a bit. But NOT unwanted transference, not entirely, kinda. I mean Dean doesn't want to be Sam's sex slave (EXCEPT HE KINDA DOES). Thor doesn't want to be Loki's sex slave in Chaos War. (EXCEPT HE AGREED TO IT - also he kinda does).

For that reason, non-con totally doesn't hit any of my kinks. That's involuntary + unwanted transference of power, there's not tricky consent angst, there's just pain.

And the other kink I've been trying to expose into some comprehensible format, ties into these again - witheld!knowledge!kink - where knowledge is witheld from the POV character (yes, and knowledge = power and I see the similarities). Examples include: concealed identity fic/ bad guy is secretly a good guy fic/slave fic where the character doesn't know what his/her owner is like (and expects the worse). I especially like reveal! moments - Merlin's magic, Batman's idenitity, that sort of thing.

NOW REC ME. I COMMAND YOU.
